🔳 The Long Goodbye by Meghan O'Rourke

     What does it mean to mourn today, in a culture that has largely set aside rituals that acknowledge grief? I have often thought about why we perform दहावा-बारावा etc. after someone passes away. माझ्या सासऱ्यांनी  सांगितलं होतं की ते गेल्यावर असले कोणतेही विधी पाळायचे नाहीत. पण तरीही in that moment ते पाळले गेले. असे दिवस घालण्याने जर मागे राहिलेल्यांचं दुःख हलकं होणार असेल तर का दिवस घालू नयेत? किंवा मागे राहिलेल्याना दिवस घालून किंवा न घालून काही फरक पडणार नसेल तर काय करायचं? What does it mean to mourn anyway? 

🔳 Does He Know a Mother's Heart: How Suffering Refutes Religions by Arun Shourie

     The title says everything. I have abandoned this book once before because I felt overwhelmed by the topic. I wonder if I can finish it off now. I expect it to be a much more difficult read now that I have a daughter who is behind on all scales of development.

🔳 Lectures on Bhagavad Geeta by Swami Vivekananda

    This is an anthology of Swami Vivekananda's writings - all lectures given in the early 1900s. I have been wanting to read Swami Vivekananda's thoughts and lectures for a while now, but never got around to it. Maybe this will be a start.

🔲 I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai

    मलालाबद्दल खूप ऐकलं-वाचलं होतं, त्यामुळे तिचं हे पुस्तक वाचणं क्रमप्राप्त होतं. 

🔲 Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography by Neil Patrick Harris

    I heard about this book in one of NPH's interviews, and instantly wanted to read it. The format intrigued me immensely. But I should have gotten a physical copy of the book. Listening to this in audio book form is not a rewarding experience.

🔲 The Restaurant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams

    Wild little sequel to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

🔳 संस्कृती by इरावती कर्वे 

     इरावती कर्व्यांचं "युगांत" वाचल्यापासून त्यांचं इतर लिखाण वाचण्याची इच्छा अनावर झाली होती. Finally हे पुस्तक हाताशी लागलं. मराठी पुस्तकं इथे अमेरिकेत बसून मिळवणं महाकठीण आहे!

🔳 व्यासपर्व by दुर्गा भागवत 

    महाभारतावर भाष्य करणारी जी जी पुस्तकं आहेत त्यात हे पुस्तक येतं. मुळातच महाभारताविषयी मला ओढ असल्यामुळे हे पुस्तक बरेच दिवस माझ्या to-read list वर आहे. 

🔲 कांचनकण by शिवाजी सावंत 

     शिवाजी सावंतांच्या कादंबऱ्या आवडत असल्या तरी त्यांचं इतर लिखाण कधी वाचनात आलं नव्हतं. ते आणणं हा हेतू मनात धरून त्यांच्या इतर पुस्तकांना हात घालायचं ठरवलं. त्यातलं हे पहिलं पुस्तक.  

🔳 झेप by ना. सं. इनामदार 

     ऐतिहासिक व्यक्तिरेखांविषयी अनेक कादंबऱ्या मराठीत आहेत. एक वाचली तरी पुढची असतेच. एखाद्या व्यक्तिरेखेबद्दल, घटनेबद्दल किंवा ऐतिहासिक काळाबद्दल वेगवेगळ्या लेखकांचा perspective वाचायला मजा येते, त्यामुळे मी हाताला लागतील त्या क्रमाने  ऐतिहासिक विषयांवरच्या कादंबऱ्यांचा फडशा पाडत असते.

🔳 कान्होजी आंग्रे by पु. ल. देशपांडे 

    पुलंची मोजकीच पुस्तकं आता माझी वाचायची राहिलीयेत. This is one of them.

🔳 जीवन त्यांना कळले हो by various people, about पु. ल. देशपांडे 

     पुलंचं लिखाण वाचणं जितकं मजेदार तितकंच त्यांच्याबद्दल वाचणंसुद्धा. 

🔳 The Lighter Side of Gravity by जयंत नारळीकर 

🔳 Introduction to Cosmology by जयंत नारळीकर 

🔳 Scientific Edge: The Indian Scientist from Vedic to Modern Times by जयंत नारळीकर 

    जयंत नारळीकरांची सुटसुटीत भाषेत लिहिलेली, सामान्यांना समजतील अशी वैज्ञानिक विषयांवरची पुस्तकं (fiction or nonfiction) वाचणं ही एक treat असते. I want to get back to it. शिवाय माझ्या list मधल्या इतर पुस्तकांपेक्षा एकदम वेगळं काहीतरी होईल हे!

🔲 The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin

     हिचं Better Than Before आवडलं होतं. त्यामुळे हे पण वाचलं.
